Tasi Rose and Company was named after my Oma- Anastasia or “Tasi” Fick. She is pictured here with my grandpa Nicholas, on their wedding day in 1959. Decades after his passing, she still to this day is madly in love with him and it is honestly the cutest love story ever.
I spent A LOT of time with my Oma growing up. She always felt like home to me. I remember watching her put her hair into a perfectly sleek french twist and doing her makeup in the mirror. I had to be at most 6 years old thinking “ Now how the heck did she get that twist so perfect!”
I have to be honest with you guys. I grew up a tomboy and played basketball pretty much my entire life. I was into glam things more than I would say anyone in my family growing up, however that lead to me burning my sister’s ear almost off for her prom and her hating her makeup so much, she sobbed to my mom until I took it off. ( Don’t worry guys, I made up for it and did her wedding makeup and she looked fabulous!)
I wasn’t off to a great start. When I decided to go into the beauty industry, I completely went against the grain with my family’s normal. Basketball was my first love ( and is still one of my favorite things, team MJ and KOBE baby!) One thing, probably one of the most important things I learned from it was that you are as good as the work you put in. So when I found myself wanting to get into the beauty industry with really no background or experience… I went back to what I knew and was taught by my Mom Dukes- if you want it, you work hard and you get it!
That was over a decade ago and I’ve never looked back. Of course, there were mountains to climb and obstacles to overcome but one thing about my Tas, she is relentless and I guess you can say that it runs in the Fick Genes.
I completely fell in love with glam. I have to admit, God has blessed my hands with a skill and it does feel pretty amazing when you see the “ after” Like wait, little old me did that?! But MOST IMPORTANTLY it’s the legit sparkle in my girl’s eyes that comes back when I spin them around and they see what we’ve created in the time spent!
WHY BRIDAL GLAM?
It wasn’t until my own wedding day that everything clicked for me. I married my childhood bestfriend ( and when I tell you our story could be an ACTUAL Netflix series, okay!)
To think of all I had been through throughout my life up until that moment- the good, bad and ugly, was all just preparation for one of God’s purpose’s in my life, and that was to be not just a wife- but the wife of my husband that God had created specifically for me.
Looking back, that day doesn’t even seem real. It was like a perfectly orchestrated dream, a fairytale if you will. How I felt that day is something quite honestly I don’t think anything can or will compare to.
Going through life with your best friend is a truly unmatched journey. And to think that I get to be a part of that journey, even if it’s just for a moment in time, makes all that I do ever so worth it.
